Hurry Up Heron

This Heron was certainly in a hurry and so was I...not much time for photography anymore.

Since I don't have much time I only had my Sony in my purse and without the big lens.

Guess it really didn't matter...cause he was in a hurry too...

only got a few shots off before he flew off.

That was a strand of my hair across the lower right of the picture...windy day. Well...guess it's Heron today and gone tomorrow. haha

Breakfast at the Backyard Diner

I guess it's really true...the early bird really does catch the worm!

Sorry...too late...you only get a nut. That'll teach you to get up earlier! haha

Some prefer searching for bugs in the bark of a tree.

Guess you should've listened for the morning wake up call from the rooster.

This little Downy Woodpecker is looking at me wondering..." Hey...where's the suet lady?"

Time for a little refreshment...always welcome after a big breakfast.

Another late riser...missed out on the worm and the seeds.

That's alright...breakfast can always be found buried under the bark of a tree.

If you come for breakfast at the Backyard Diner...please remember...come early!

Welcome To My Backyard

My backyard birds afford me so much entertainment...like these two having a showdown at the OK corral.

My Carolina Wren is always so curious...here he's trying to figure out what I'm doing.

My little Tufted-Titmouse needs to watch where he lands!

Whoops...I think we've discovered our grave mistake...sure hope this kitty isn't hungry!!!

This is my captivating Cardinal...who is always aware of where I am and what I'm doing.

That's why he's turned his back on me and my incessant clicking! haha

This sassy little Wren didn't realize there was another wren who already claimed this bucket.

Maybe it's time to back off and wait your turn!

Hope you enjoyed visiting my backyard and find my backyard feathered friends as entertaining as I do. Come on back and see us sometime...ya hear?

Eating Crow...Brought To You by Hardee's!

If you want to see an excellent review on Hardee's french fries...

stay tuned to the food critic...Eating Crow! haha

Even when difficult to acquire...Hardee's french fries are definitely worth the effort.

Ahhh...finally...my tough task of removing them from the bag is about to be rewarded.

My critique...excellent flavor!!!

Now...don't be eyeing up my dinner...

Go get your own!!! I'm guarding these golden fries and I can get nasty if you try to take them!

Now that I've had my fill I'm happy and content...I'm glad I chose to eat out...the food was great.

Be sure and come back for future food reviews on dining out in Carolina. Next week...critiquing the Backyard Bird Diners throughout the Carolina's.

The Song of Spring

Some of the birds this morning were singing a song of spring.

After all...spring is officially here...and always my favorite time of year!

As they sit among the spring buds or blooms...

They just can't help bursting into song!!!

It almost makes me burst into song along with them...and then I remember...I can't sing!! haha

View From The Porch

Grab your rocking chair and join me on my porch for a little R&B....That stands for Rocking and Birdwatching! haha After all...my birds are both musical and entertaining...which can be very relaxing after a stressful day at work!!!

If you take notice of the Red-bellied Woodpecker in the picture below, you'll notice the red patch of hair on his belly that he derives his name from. You'll see the difference between him and my Red-headed Woodpecker when it arrives sometime later this Spring.

My Red-bellies use to stay all year round but now when the Red-headed Woodpeckers come they disappear. The Redheads chase them away...guess it's true what they say about Redheads being temperamental! haha

The Chickadees stay all year round...but sadly...my little yellow Warblers will be migrating soon.

This brassy little fellow better leave my Bluebirds alone!!! I caught him chasing my Blue birds away from the Bluebird house and trying to build a nest there for his mate. Go find another house buddy!!!!

This darling little bird is a Brown-headed Nuthatch and is no bigger than your thumb.

The Carolina Wrens are entertaining...but are such bossy little birds...meet Mr. and Mrs. Wren.

The Tufted Titmouse is also a year round resident...so I will enjoy his antics all year.

Thanks for coming over to sit a spell with me and enjoying the view from my porch...be sure and drop in again sometime!

Banking On Backyard Birds

Since my busy work schedule...I've been banking on my backyard birds for entertainment...like this angel of a mockingbird who fills my yard with varied songs.

For color to brighten my day I rely on my captivating Cardinal...

and my darling little Pine Warbler!!! To make me smile...the cute little Chickadee:-)

My Cardinal is always looking for a little devilment to get into! hee-hee

The Tufted Titmouse with his big-eyed outlook on life always seems to be happy...and why not...he's always fed and doesn't even have to work for it!!!

This Carolina Wren is my explorer...always curious and not afraid to check anything out...bold is the word for this little guy!!!

Now who wouldn't welcome this little ray of sunshine to their yard...he would brighten up any one's day!!!

As you can see my Cardinal is not only captivating...but...curious to boot! haha

Wish I had more time to play with my new toy, but at least, I can always bank on my backyard birds to afford me a little time to practice and a whole lot of enjoyment!!!!!

Dog Days at Cape Fear Botanical Gardens

I went to Cape Fear Botanical Gardens after hurting my back...so a photo shoot with a German Shepherd seemed more ergomatic than bending over to photograph flowers. hahaha

You can see that he was a very cooperative model and a handsome one too!

He's not even a year old yet, but, very friendly and sociable.

I hope his owners will like the photos. Sorry folks...no flowers today.
