A Hint of Spring

This pretty pink blossomed tree was fooled into thinking it's spring as was this cute little bird.

We will stop and sit for a moment at the gazebo and imagine the weddings here in the spring.

Now we cross the bridge on our quest for hints of spring.

Alas...we've found a lovely bloom...a rarity in the month of December.

Now we're going to try not to get bogged down in the Bog Garden!

Seems only the white Camilla's are in bloom at this time...the rest are waiting for Valentines Day.

Time to admire the birds and blooms once again...

as we walk through the gardens on this warm balmy winter day.

On our walk we stop to admire yet another lovely white Camilla.

On our way out of the gardens we can't help but stop and admire this colourful scene.

After the long walk it's nice to stop and rest here...

while we stop and admire one last time the bird and blooms that hint at a promise of spring.

Be sure to come along on my next quest for signs of spring.

Meet The Flock

Time to meet some more of my backyard birds. This is my little Pine Warbler...typical blond...can't figure out where that cat got to!!!

Now my sassy Carolina Wren says..." Who's afraid of the big bad cat...not me!!!! "

Meet the suet man...my Red-bellied Woodpecker...who lets me know with his loud call that I need to fill the empty suet holder!

This is my tailess Mockingbird who tries in vein to shake a tail feather. haha

I think the Downey Woodpecker is a cute little fellow and although he loves suet too...he quickly gives way to the Red-belly who is rather a bully.

Never without a cheerful little song is my White-throated Sparrow.

Come and meet one of my many Cardinals...he lives here with other male Cardinals who he shares bird seed with and they all get along fine until mating season. Go figure???

Finally...my tuff little Tufted Titmouse...who always gets his fair share of everything!

Thanks for stopping by...I know my fine flock of wintering birds enjoyed your visit. Just remember to bring along some bird seed or at least some suet with you next time!!!

My Winter Backyard Birds

Let me introduce you to my sweet little backyard birds. This icy little fellow is my Tufted Titmouse and it appears even his little beak needs a de-icer!!!

This is my sweet little Carolina Chickadee who is such a little optimist that he even finds something to sing about when Carolina is plagued with temps in the 20's!!!

Oh no...looks like my poor little Pine Warbler is stuck to the ice and can't seem to fly off! Only kidding...these are tough little birds.

And last but not least is my Dark Eyed Junco...and he ain't junk! He's a ground feeder and is quite surprised to find frozen ground and frozen decks in North Carolina!!!

Hope you enjoyed meeting my beautiful little backyard birds who brighten up my yard during the winter months. I invite you back to meet them again along with some of my other visitors.

Winter Comes to Carolina

Imagine my surprise when I looked out the door last night and saw this snowy scene!!!

So early the next morning I took a walk on this snow covered trail through the woods. It must have been early because I scared a raccoon and it was gone before I could get a shot!!!

I came out at a farm with cows that looked just as surprised by the snow!

One more picture of this snow covered farm and then it's back to my nice warm home.

B-r-r-r-r....We're not use to this cold and snow in North Carolina!!!

My female Cardinal and Finch are sharing a perch.

And last but not least are these darling little Goldfinches.

Sorry...that's all I have time for...hope to see you all again soon!
